Grannies On The Road

RVing across America. One small town, beach, park, mountain, flea market, BBQ joint, soda shop, junk shop and diner, at a time.

Florida West Coast Road Trip day 5

I took a ride down alt, 19, then over to Honeymoon Island State Park. This is one of the most beautiful parks I’ve ever seen. It’s a nature lover’s paradise. A real bargain for $4.00 a person or $8.00 per vehicle. (up to 8 people). There’s plenty to do. Nature trails, bird watching, swimming, fishing, biking, kayaking, you can even get married there. I prefer just holding down a beach chair with a cold drink in my hand. Okay, I guess you could call it bird watching.

Later that day, I headed down to Clearwater Beach.  After the tranquility of Honeymoon Island, this was a little bit of a culture shock. There’s plenty to do here, too. After you come across the Causeway, if you turn north you’ll come to Frenchy’s Rockaway Grill. You’ll have to look for it because it’s tucked away behind motels, but it’s right on the beach. It’s an awesome bar/restaurant. You can’t beat the atmosphere and their food is delicious. They actually operate their own fishing boats. I waited for a table on the back deck because I wanted to be outdoors. Well worth it!

Another good day. Boy, I’m going to have to go home and rest up. 🙂

Be sure and come back when I finish up my first “Real Trip”.
